Modified Bitumen Systems (MBS)
Modified bitumen systems are waterproofing systems with remarkable strength, elasticity, and weather ability. Its sheets are made with uniform thickness and manufactured to have consistent physical properties throughout. The finished roofing membrane consists of one or more sheets, or it is comprised of combinations of built-up roofing felts and one or more of modified bitumen sheets.

Two types of a MBS are Atactic Polypropylene Modifier, or APP, and Styrene Butadiene Styrene Modifier, or SBS. APP is made with plastic and installed using the torch-applied method. SBS is made with rubber and installed using hot asphalt.

Built-Up Roofing Systems
For exceptional resistance to water and weather, choose a built-up roofing system.

There are 2 different methods of applying this multi-layered roofing system, using various amounts of roofing felts, base and ply sheets, to create a highly waterproof membrane.

The 2 systems are hot-applied asphalt, which uses tar and gravel and is painted, and the other is cold asphalt, or cold tar pitch.

Single-Ply Roofing System
A single-ply roofing system utilizes the application of a thermostat single-ply membrane, which is either reinforced or un-reinforced. Neoprene (CR), epichlorohydrin (ECH), and ethylene propylene diene monomer (EPDM) cure during the manufacturing process, while chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) cures on the roof during weathering. Thermostat roof membranes are installed in either ballasted or adher
ed, and are mechanically attached.

Thermoplastic Olefin Membrane (TPO)
Thermoplastic materials are different from thermostat materials in that there is no chemical cross-linking. These membranes are repeatedly softened by heating or hardened when cooled. Because of the material's chemical nature, thermoplastic membranes typically are seamed by heat welding with hot air or solvent welding.

TPO membranes commonly are white or black, and are produced by calendering with lamination, extrusion with lamination, or extrusion-coating techniques. TPO sheets are composed of polypropylene and ethylene propylene polymers, and usually are reinforced with polyester. These sheets contain colorant, flame-retardants, UV absorbers, and other proprietary substances to achieve desired physical properties.

Metal Roofing
Choose a metal roof for excellent durability. Though metal roofing is thought of as a low-slope roofing material, it is used on steep-slope roofs. There are 2 types of metal roofing products: panels and shingles.
